Just watched the sun rise thru the mist of the Arabian Gulf while I was having a quick smoke on the signal deck and a school of whales ( about 9 of them ) surfaced beside the ship, did that water blowy thing for a few mins and then buggered off! It's the little things like that that make this job seem worthwhile 
wow.... how wonderful!
If I think of anything that makes THIS job worthwhile, I'll let you know

I am insanely jealous of you having seen whales that close. I live in the coast in Wales and I see the occasional dolphin but no whales unfortunately.

It always seems special when you see things like that 
dolphins are pretty cool, but I wonder if they do the jumpy thing when no one is watching? Have seen a few recently Best bit was when they were chasing a school of tuna - loads of jumpimg fish also saw a sting ray ( manta ? ) jump as well which i didn't know they could do

I haven't seen any this week, but I do see them most weeks. We get porpoise too sometimes.

Only fish I've seen in the last few days were in the Polynesian restaurant in my hotel - but they seemed peaceful enough
